NFC South Division Predictions – Week 5 to 8

NFC South Division Predictions – Week 5 to 8

Rather than take each team on its own, I have decided to split the season into 4 sections and used previous match-ups and momentum as a factor in trying to predict each teams result for that particular week.

Week 5

Bye week – New Orleans Saints

Atlanta Falcons v Denver Broncos

The Broncos determined to make up for the pain of the last minute loss in Tampa the week previous, brush aside the Falcons at home to keep up with their defence of the title. The Falcons showing signs of improvement from their sluggish start to the season can’t afford too many more losses if they are to fill one of the Wild Card positions.

Result – Falcons loss

Tampa Bay Buccaneers v Carolina Panthers

The combination of the Panthers hurting from their loss on the road against the Falcons combined with the Bucs efforts from defeating the Broncos in their last game, results in Carolina winning this top of the division match-up. Cam Newton and Jameis Winston go toe-to-toe in this clash but it’s Super Cam who comes out in top in this Monday night clash. Still, the Bucs are looking good with Winston showing no signs of a Sophomore slump.

Result – Panthers win

Week 6

Bye week – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Carolina Panthers v New Orleans Saints

The Panthers toil on their travels against their divisional foes as the Saints make up for last years’ painful late defeat. It’s the Saints’ combination of Brees and Cooks which inflicts the Panthers’ second L of this season.

Result – Saints win

Atlanta Falcons v Seattle Seahawks

The Falcons poor start to the season, sees them firmly rooted to the bottom of the division after last weeks’ road trip to Denver quickly followed by an equally daunting road trip to Seattle. Not halfway through the season yet and the Falcons are already planning for next season in their new state of the art stadium.

Result – Falcons Loss

Week 7

Bye week – Carolina Panthers

New Orleans Saints v Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs, sitting atop of the AFC West division, pick up a home win after a come from behind victory against the Saints’ who have struggled all season to prevent teams from scoring in the Red Zone. This is the 11th meeting between the two teams and the Chiefs edge ahead 6-5.

Result – Saints Loss

Tampa Bay Buccaneers v San Francisco 49ers

The Bucs claim their second away victory over the struggling 49ers who remain bottom of the NFC West. With Evans and Jackson remaining fully fit and Doug Martin carrying on his form from 2015, the Bucs are well in the hunt for a play-off position.

Result – Buccaneers win

San Diego Chargers v Atlanta Falcons

A much needed victory for the Falcons against a sub par display from the Chargers who have not tasted victory against the Falcons in over 28 years and never looked like ending this woeful run in 2016.

Result – Falcons Win

Week 8

Oakland Raiders v Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Two of the youngest teams in the NFL go head to head in Tampa. 4 years ago in the Coliseum, it was Oakland native Doug Martin who shredded the Raiders Defence in a four touchdown display. Although not as emphatic, it’s Martin again who proves to be the difference maker in a thriller in Tampa.

Result – Buccaneers win

Seattle Seahawks v New Orleans Saints

In their previous game at home, the Saints edged out the Panthers, however, it’s a different story when Seattle roll in to town. There is no stopping the Seahawks as they start their customary run towards the post season. Jimmy Graham shows exactly what the Saints’ are missing.

Result – Saints Loss

Green Bay Packers v Atlanta Falcons

The Packers fighting it out at the top of the NFC North with the Vikings never looked like losing ground against the Falcons who yet again cannot string back to back wins in 2016. Although not mathematically impossible, the Falcons post season dream is shredded.

Result – Falcons loss

Arizona Cardinals v Carolina Panthers

Carson Palmer still wakes up in the middle of the night thinking about last years post season clash between these two NFC powerhouses. Despite a much improved performance from the Cards’ QB, the Panthers just edge a classic in Charlotte.

Result – Panthers win

Division Standings After Week 8

Carolina Panthers 5-2
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 5-2
New Orleans Saints 2-5
Atlanta Falcons 2-6
