The Browns decided to cut there losses and trade Barkevious Mingo to the New England Patriots. Mingo has been disappointing to the same degree that Jar Jar Binks was to Star Wars fans.
He’s managed just 108 tackles and 7 sacks in three years. One of last year’s breakout players, Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert was still on the board at that point. As were DeAndre Hopkins, Tyrann Mathieu, Sheldon Richardson, Le’Veon Bell and Kyle Long.
With defensive end Rob Ninkovich recovering from a torn tricep, Mingo Will be expected to pick up some of the slack as a pass rusher. Bill Belichick has been responsible for making productive players from draft busts in the past. Could Mingo be his next project?
In return for Mingo the Browns will receive a 2017 5th round pick. That’s quite a high price for a player that simply hadn’t produced and suggests that more teams were interested.
